The Gypsy Star
of Brackenhill

The Gypsy Star of Brackenhill spent the first few months of
his life in the North of England in a herd of quality line
bred gypsy cob horses with 20 years of breeding behind them.
His dam is a legendary mare known as The Gykes Mare who was
17 years old when Star was born and his sire is a fine
stallion known as Davie Wards black and white stallion.
The Gypsy Star is from generations of the most sought after
gypsy cob lineage. Star was purchased from James Taylor at
10 months of age and imported into New Zealand in 2007. Star
is a top quality gypsy cob oozing with desirable qualities
of this versatile delightful breed. Star is short coupled
with heavy bone, 50/50 colour, abundant feather, mane and
tail, a placid, gentle and kind nature and currently
standing at 14.3hh.
He is alert and has
a keen mind eager to learn and socialise with humans. Star
has excellent conformation and movement. He has a correct
jumping style and is a very comfortable and safe horse to
ride.

Homozygous for black
No red factor detected. The
horse can be assumed to be homozygous for black pigment (EE). It cannot have
red foals, regardless of the color of the mate. The basic color of the horse
will be black, bay or brown, but depending on genes at other color loci, the
horse may be buckskin, zebra dun, grullo, perlino, gray, white or any of
these colors with the white hair patterns tobiano, overo, roan or appaloosa.
